Letter, 1680 Sept. 30, Newmarket [to] the governor and magistrates of the Massachusetts Colony / Charles R. 1680.

Transcript, handwritten. Charles chastises the colonists for not responding to his demands of the previous year and commands and requires of them their allegiance, and to "seriously reflect upon our commands contained in [previous] letters," and to send a representative in three months to answer the charges in said letters.

Rawson was the first Secretary of the Massachusetts Bay Colony (1650-1686). He was born in Dorset, England; he married Rachel Perne before coming to America.
